General professional  & personal background:

I have more than ten (10) years long experience of teaching , students’ assessment& supervision, research and service in medical and health sciences colleges’ settings. I’m very interested in academic activities, medical education & researches concerning human micro-nutrition. I am excellent in conveying information and I have very good ability to create good bonds with my students, colleagues and seniors. I am tolerant, excellent team player, with high capacity to work under pressure and adaptable to change, carrying my assigned duties with great professionalism and commitment, through consistency and institutional loyalty.  I had the chance to work with people with diverse ethnic, cultural and religious background and I always respect the others traditions and customs. I have also very good experience in clinical practices and health administration as resident and community physician.

Clinical Trial Project

    Participating member of the team conducting Omega-3 Fatty Acids Clinical Trial Project. (Recruited and followed the patients and collected the clinical data from the Sickle Cell Referral Clinic, Ibn-Aoaf Paediatric Hospital, Khartoum , Sudan) which investigated the therapeutic potential of omega-3 fatty acids; Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) capsules supplement in the prevention and reduction of severity of vaso-occlusive crisis in sickle cell anemia patients – in collaboration with Institute of Human Nutrition and Brain chemistry in University of Metropolitan – London -United Kingdom and Department of Biochemistry –University of Khartoum – Sudan- between April 2009 and May 2010. Its findings suggest that omega-3 fatty acids can be an effective, safe, and affordable therapy for sickle cell anemia. It is registered with Current Controlled Trials as ISRCTN80844630 .Its findings were published in (Am J Clin Nutr. 2013;97(1):37-44.. Effect of omega-3 (n-3) fatty acid supplementation in patients with sickle cell anemia: randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial).

     Phase two (II) multicenter of that clinical trial was conducted in USA, confirmed and highlighted the result obtained in Khartoum, published in ( Daak et al. Double-blind, randomized, multicenter phase 2 study of SC411 in children with sickle cell disease (SCOT trial)blood advances -14 August 2018 – volume 2, number 15- ).
